Creek Long Creek Board Wm hold a meeting on Monday;: February 27 at 6:30 Village of Long Creek is open for from 6:00 pim.- ake Sale - ia book and bake will also be books. litar3 our by CRYSTAL REED Editor Cub Scout Pack 43 held their annual Blue and Gold banquet this past Sunday at the Decatur Masonic Temple. Each year the event is held to award rank advancements and perform a crossing Over ceremony for Webelos scouts moving on to Boy Scouts. During this year's event it was announced once again that the pack was the top popcorn seller in the Lincoln Trails council. This year scouts sold over $50,000 worth of popcorn. A trophy was presented to Cubmaster Kevin Johnson and Committee Chair Patrick Garrett in recognition of this. Committee Chair Patrick Garrett was recognized during the program . for his many years of service to Pack 43. He received a plaque, a pen and a House Resolution that was filed by Bill Mitchell in his honor. This year nine scouts crossed over to Boy Scouts and all earned the Arrow of Light award. This award is the only Cub Scout emblem that may be .worn on the Boy Scout uniform. Each scout that received this received an arrow award. The wood near the arrow shaft represents mother earth. It is our responsibility to take care of her and pass her on to future generations. All of the scouts old and new then gathered around the flag to say the scout's law. Scouts that crossed over were: Timothy Freeman, Joshua Garrett, Noah Scheiter, Dylan Thunder; Tyler Zuber, Jackson Garrett, Mason Gray, Cade Seeley and Bryndon Wallace. Library To Host Genealogy Program Mt. Zion Library will host a genealogy program titled "Climbing Your Family Tree" and "Preserving Documents and Pictures" presented by Gall Leonard of the Decatur Genealogical Society and Becky Damptz, Archivist Librarian at Decatur Public Library. Great for beginners as well as s~oned. researchers. Please register by calling 864-3622. The Mt. Zion Swingsations will host a 40th Anniversary Celebration Concert on April 28 & 29. Saturday the St:.I Andrew's Society 29th will be a red carpet event to honor our alumni. We will open the doors at 5 pm for alumni to visit and enjoy light hors d'oeuvres/drinks before the show. There will be displays of memorabilia to view as well. The Doors will be open to the public at 6:30pm and the concert will begin at 7pm. Mark your calendars for a great weekend of music and memories! Celtic Dancers To Perform At Methodist Church .The St. Andrew's Society Celtic Dancers will perform on Saturday, March 4 at 7:00 pm at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1220 W. Main: St. Suggested donation is $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for seniors and children. The not for profit organization will use all proceeds to pay for new costumes including new kilts, vests and shirts for competition. Mt. Zion Chamber Scholarship Applications The Scholarship Committee of the Mt. Zion Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its annual scholarship program. To learn more about the criteria and application process, please contact or call 217-864-2526.Applications must be received no later than March 1, 2017. The Mt. Zion Chamber will award a total of $2,000 as part of its annual Scholarship Program.The winners Will" be notified by mail and presented at the Mt.
