Page 8 The Region News mtzionregionnevs@comcast, net Wednesday, April 23, 2014 Arthur Amish Country Quilt Show April 24-26 , The 25th Annual Ar- thur Amish Country Quilt Show will be held Thursday through Saturday, April 24- 26, at the Otto Center, one- half mile south of downtown Arthur on the County Line Road. Over 100 entries from all over Illinois, including some made by the local Amish, are expected for the region's largest spring quilt exhibi- tion. The show is sponsored by Arthur Area Association of Commerce. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $3 per person. A quilt auc- tion will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 26. Quilts available for sale do not have to be displayed in the show. Over 150 quilts were auctioned off this year. Judges will select a Best of Show winner plus first, second-, and third-place winners in each of six cate- gories: Baby, Wall Hanging, Antique, Appliqu6, Pieced, ahd Mixed Techniques. Prize for Best of Show is a $100 gift certificate redeem- able at participating Arthur merchants. 'Visitors will determine the winner of the People's Choice Award ribbon. In addition to voting for their favorite quilt show entry, visitors have the op- portunity to enter a raffle drawing to win a queen-size Double Wedding Ring quilt. The drawing will take place on Saturday afternoon. "There will be a merchant vendor area and Country Cheese and More will be serving lunch all 3 days of the show," said Wilma Her- schberger, quilt show com- mittee chairperson. "This year we will be having quilt- related demonstration on Thursday and Friday at the Otto Center." Arthur Quilt Show has be- come the largest spring quilt exhibition in Illinois Amish Country. It attracts entries from all over Illinois, includ- ing many Amish-crafted quilts. Visitors come by the busloads from all over the state to view the entries. Last year's exhibition at- tracted 115 entries and over 1,000 visitors. The Best of Show Award last year went to Wilma Herschberger of Arthur for her "Boston Com- mons" quilt. The People's Choice Award went to Joy Voltenburg of Sullivan for her "Spring Shadows" quilt.
