Zion fans thought this to be a re-btdld season as the Braves adjusted to . a new Coach and anew style of I football under Coach Pop. After ] week 7, the Braves went from an I early season 0-4 record to a 3-4 Lrecord team following a 58-30 Ioffensive bomb on Salem. The Braves not only kept credentials in the Apollo" conference with this late season surge but also kept alive any hopes of playoff activity. Austin Ray continued to dazzle with another 185 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns while starting QB Payton Grinestaff provided the season. We have a big week ahead of us hosting Effingham and 1 challenge the Mt. Zion Conununity to fill our stands with red and be loud. I want to see the Mt. Zion Community bring it as we need to pick up the win over t Effingham." stated the energetic Braves New Head Coach Mike Popovich. The Braves wasted no time hitting the scoreboard in Salem. #14 Grinestaff connected to Chandler Hudson on a 42 yard pass early on to put it a quick MZ lead. Austin Ray muscled in a ground gain for paydirt to put it a quick 14-0 Mt. Zioh after 1 quarter of play. at the half mark was 40-8 Mt: Zion. The Braves kept most of their starters in through the 3rd quarter as Max Gensler and Austin Ray scored again. To cap off the. scoring for the Braves in the contest basketball turned football player Austin Thacker took a pitch pass 75 yards for the score with 1:55 left in the 3rd quarter of play to put the score at 58-16 Mt. Zion. Zion Braves Soccer team and Coach Jonathan Moore. The Braves managed to hold Champaign Central and it's Big 12 image scoreless in the first half, but Central scored three times in the 2nd half to take the win 3-0 over the Braves. The Braves record fell to 13-1-2 and competed against Mattoon on Tuesday.
